It's September
2000 and the market for downloading music and video online is extremely
disorganized and under fire due to Internet Piracy. There are simply
too many competing standards in too many markets leading to a situation
where content is being stolen with no clear-cut solution to this
problem. Digital Rights Management Companies (DRM) are in a position
to solve this problem through the use of digital watermarking, file
encryption; the use transaction processing and digital permit content
management. The market for digital music and video is without a
doubt huge. It is projected by IDC to climb from virtually nothing
today to over $16 Billion by 2003. The companies on the DRM List
are currently small and highly speculative but their potential is
certainly huge.
